Bus Accident Involving Carey Junior High Track Students

Update Wednesday, April 19, 5:37 p.m.

We are pleased to announce that all students were released from the hospital and returned to their families.  We are grateful to the community for their support, thoughts and good wishes for the students and their families.  We also want to express our gratitude to Lincoln County first responders, and all the medical staff in Twin Falls, Wood River Valley, Pocatello, Shoshone and Gooding who have helped our students and staff.  Thank you.

Update 9:16 p.m.

All but two students have been sent home.  The district is grateful to all staff who supported staff, students and parents involved in the accident, as well as Lincoln County first responders, and medical staff in Twin Falls, Gooding, Jerome, Ketchum and Pocatello.  Thank you to everyone for your support.

Update 3:58 p.m.

Hospitals that have received students include: St. Luke's Magic Valley, St. Luke's Wood River, hospital in Jerome, Gooding and Pocatello. District staff are at all hospitals except Pocatello at this time to support the students and families. There are no life-threatening injuries reported.

Los hospitales que han admitido estudiantes incluyen a: St. Luke's Magic Valley, St. Luke's Wood River, los hospitales de Jerome, Gooding y Pocatello. Update 2:13 p.m.

At 2:13 p.m., 14 students were released, 12 are waiting to be assessed by emergency personnel, 5 were transported by air and 5 were transported by ambulance.  Three more are in transit.  The status of the students will continue to be updated as we have more information.

Bus Accident Involving Carey Junior High Track Students

At 12:49 p.m. the district was notified that a BCSD bus rolled over near the Dietrich cutoff.  The bus was transporting Carey Junior High students to a track meeting.  Individuals with injuries are being taken care of by Lincoln County emergency responders or transported to a hospital, and a bus is on its way to pick up students that are going back to school.  At this time we do not know the number or extent of injuries.  Principal Peck is on the scene and Dr. Holmes is at Carey School.  Carey parents, all district staff and media have been notified.

El autobús transportaba a alumnos del nivel intermedio de Carey a un evento de atletismo. Las personas con lesiones están siendo atendidas por los servicios de emergencia del condado de Lincoln o transportadas al hospital, y un autobús va en camino a recoger a los alumnos que estarán regresando a la escuela.
