Board of Trustees Seeks Bids for Food Service Management

Students at salad  bar The Blaine County School District is requesting proposals to enter into a fixed -price contract with a food service management company.  Trustees are looking for a food service management company to provide nutritious, high-quality meals to all students including those who participate in the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program and Summer Food Service Program.  During the school year, 279,000 meals are served in the Blaine County School District.

In an open public meeting in October, Trustees approved a draft Request for Proposal that was previously vetted and approved by the State Department of Education.  

Superintendent Dr. GwenCarol Holmes stated, “We’ve heard from the public over the past four years regarding their desire for increased quality while maintaining high nutritional standards required by the federal government.  The Request for Proposals for food service management reflects some of the repeated themes and comments expressed by the community in the past.”

The Request for Proposal (RFP) for food service management will be publicly noticed according to a timeline and process approved by the Board of Trustees.  The Request for Proposal can be viewed on the district website at under the Finance Department and Request for Proposals.  The proposals will be evaluated by a committee following a rubric that is outlined in the RFP.  The deadline for submission of sealed proposals is Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The Board will consider proposals at the Regular February 12, 2019 meeting and the anticipated contract award date for the food service management company will be on February 15, 2019.
