WATER Club Makes a Difference
Recently W.A.T.E.R. Club members went to Alturas Elementary to teach the students about the importance of bees in our environment and recycling in our community. Elementary school students in the fourth and second grade in both English and Spanish classrooms were given presentations about the importance of bees in our environment.
Students also learned about the flowers we have chosen to plant and the seeds the W.A.T.E.R. Club has been planting and during our spring project. Seedlings will be handed out at spring events and planted in areas throughout our community as well as near our schools. After learning about the flowers elementary students created murals for their classrooms. Students at the Alturas Elementary learned about early and late blooming flowers that help bee pollination. The high school students also shared brochures from the County with information about what is recyclable curbside and what can be recycled at various locations and where to drop things off.
