Mrs. Deborah Conover
I grew up in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes. After finishing a liberal arts associates degree, I got married and moved to live in California where my husband was working. There I worked full time in finance, enjoyed the ocean, and started my family. After nine years, we all moved to Idaho! I now have lived in Idaho for 25 years and have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Some of my hobbies include singing, hiking, fishing, hunting, and shopping. I recently finished earning my masters degree in Early Childhood Education and I am excited to be teaching in Carey!

- English Language Arts
- Recognize capital and lower case letters
- Understand letter and sound relationships
- Identify more than 48 letter names per minute & 36 letter sounds per minute
- Understand print concepts: know what a word is, know that print goes left to right and top to bottom, explain the terms author, illustrator, illustration, cover, title page
- Participate in shared reading (big books, morning messages, etc.)
- Participate in guided reading (small books with repetitive text)
- Recognize and produce rhyming words
- Learn forty sight words
- Learn to spell sight words, CVC words and CVCe words
- Help teacher write words and sentences by supplying letter sounds

- As well as working within the classroom, students participate in each of these special classes 60 minutes a week.
- Art classes with Mrs. Mecham, where students learn about primary colors and difference between warm and cool colors.
- Instructional Technologywith Mrs. Peck, where students begin to learn about the parts of a computer and how a computer works using the mouse and keyboard. Students play interactive educational games to learn mouse control and eventually learn to type using the keyboard. Students are introduced to digital citizenship and how to code. We will be doing critical learning plugged and unplugged activities throughout the school year.
- Engineering and Design with Mrs. Jones, where students learn the principles of technology using K'Nex, Legos, Uberstix, robots and paper supplies.
- Music Class with Mr. Campbell where students learn to sing and play musical instruments.
- Physical Education Class with Mrs. Simpson, where students learn to exercise and develop a number of gross motor skills including: throwing, catching, kicking and skipping.
- Students participate in each of these special classes 30 minutes a week.
- Library with Mrs. Scanlon where students learn to listen politely to stories and library skills which include finding and checking out books.

Parents are always welcome in our program. Opportunities for parent participation are arranged to accommodate parent's schedules with respect for cultural and family differences.
