BPA competing in Boise
Thanks for all of the help and support for BPA. Twenty students attended state in business professional dress and looked sharp. We had a good trip and the kids competed with 1,400 top-notch students from all over the state. At the closing ceremony, they call up the top ten students in the state for every event and then announce the winners. We made it up on the big stage nine times and qualified for nationals in two events. Both of those events were Colton Larna's. He will be going to nationals in Computer Security and Linux Operating Systems. He was second in Computer Security and fourth in Linux. Daniel Bowyer was top ten in Web Site Design as well as Banking and Finance. Both Maggie D'Orazio and Mialee Hennefer were top ten in Advanced Word Processing. Owen Parke was in the top eight in Ethics and Professionalism. His event was a judged event and it is broken up over two days. The top eight students make "callbacks" on the second day for the final round of that competition. When they send out the overall placements we will find out what our final standings were in every event and whether or not any of our top ten kids are reserves for nationals.
A big thanks to Dawn Bennion and Brandi Hennefer for chaperoning, and Jake Nilsen for driving the second bus. Also a big thank you to the Booster Club for so generously helping the kids out with food money.
