My name is Jennifer Mecham. I am married to Jeff Mecham, a special education teacher, and have four children. Three of my children have graduated from Carey School, with one still attending. I have been a teacher at Carey School since 2009. I teach art to students in K-12 grades, including AP Art. It is a pleasure to work in such a supportive school environment where we have supportive parents, outstanding facilities, and materials in our art room.

I enjoy all of the art media's that we work with at our school. My first love is painting, but I also enjoy ceramics, printmaking, drawing and sculpture. I continue to create art on my own as much as possible. I particularly enjoy working in my visual journal, which I take almost everywhere with me. Most recently I have had prints shown in a Boise gallery as part of Wingtip Press' Leftovers Collection. My print was selected to be on the advertising postcard for the gallery show.

I feel it is important to always keep learning and growing professionally. My most recent professional activities: 2016 attended a two-day training on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and Families in Twin Falls. 2015 attended the Arts Powered Schools Workshop. 2014 attended the Ringling College of Art and Design Summer Teacher Workshop in Sarasota Florida. I took courses on digital painting in photoshop among other things. I received a scholarship from Sun Valley Center for the Arts to attend this workshop.
