My name is Layne Vanderbeek. I am the new music teacher at Alturas Elementary School. I have over 15 years of teaching experience in private and classroom settings. For the last seven years, I taught orchestra, music appreciation, AP Music Theory, and Independent studies at a private school in Williamsville, NY. I received my doctorate in Music Theory and Historical Musicology from the University at Buffalo (NY) in 2020, a Master's in Violin Performance from UB as well in 2015, a Master's in Music Pedagogy from BSU in 2010, and a Bachelor's in Music Theory, Violin Performance, Music Composition, and American History from the College of Idaho in 2007. My wife, two boys, and I are excited to live in Idaho again, we enjoy rafting, climbing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, skiing, music, and cooking.
