Superintendent - GwenCarol Holmes
Following a nationwide search, Dr. GwenCarol Holmes became Blaine County School District Superintendent in July, 2014. Prior to this, Holmes served as Chief Academic Officer for Alexandria City Schools in Virginia, Chief Operating Officer of the Success for All Foundation, and assistant professor at Johns Hopkins School of Education overseeing research for the Center for Research and Reform in Education in Maryland. Holmes also had a long career of teaching and administration in several schools in Kansas. Dr. Holmes holds a BS in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Kansas State University, as well as a Master’s in Education Administration and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration from Wichita State University. Holmes and her husband have two grown children.
Executive Director of Teaching and Learning - Angie Martinez
Angie Martinez has been a public school educator for over 23 years in both Alaska and Idaho. After earning her Bachelor's Degree at Idaho State University, she spent 10 yeas in Alaska before relocating to Hailey, Idaho. Her teaching experience includes regular classroom in grades K-8, special education in grades PK-12, and GATE in grades K-12. She was also a Reading Consultant in Alaska and an HLM Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes Consultant while teaching in Blaine County. Mrs. Martinez received her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Idaho and served seven years as the Principal of Bellevue Elementary School, which she cherished beyond measure. Angie is in her fifth year of service as the Director of Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning. She enjoys working with administrators, teachers, and schools across our respected and progressive school district to improve student achievement by closing the achievement gap and to develop and provide a comprehensive curriculum with instruction that engages, inspires, educates and empowers all students.
Director of Special Programs - Aaron Bronson
Aaron Bronson joined the Blaine County School District in 2002 as a Special Education teacher at Wood River Middle School. Two years later, Aaron relocated to Oregon where she continued working as a Special Education teacher. She transitioned into school administration and school development while in Oregon and worked with a team to design and open a new magnet school. In 2013, Aaron returned to Blaine County School District as the principal of Bellevue Elementary and then became the District Program Coordinator. Aaron holds a B.S. from Utah State University in the area of Special Education, M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University, and Administrative Licensure from University of Oregon. She is a graduate of Wood River High School and has two children attending Alturas Elementary.
Testing and Data Coordinator - Marcia Grabow
Marcia Grabow has been a member of the Blaine County School District since 2005, teaching math and physics at Wood River High School for nine years and becoming Testing and Data Coordinator in August, 2014. She holds a B.S. in Physics from MIT, a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Stanford University, and a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Idaho. Marcia worked as a research scientist at AT&T Bell Laboratories for 14 years before moving to the Wood River Valley. Her daughter graduated from Wood River High School.
Finance Manager - Bryan Fletcher
Bryan Fletcher received his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He later went on to earn his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs. Prior to working for the Blaine County School District he started his career in school finance in 2008 as the Business Manager with the Kuna Joint School District. Prior to this he worked in the asset management and leasing industry spending 17 years with GE Capital, and five years with Design Space. Over the last eight years he has been an instructor with the University of Phoenix teaching in the disciplines of Accounting and Finance at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Human Resources Director - Brooke Marshall
Brooke Marshall holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Oregon, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon, School of Law. She has served public entities in leadership roles over the past 15 years in Montana and Oregon. After law school, she became director of a Safe Schools/Healthy Students project involving three school districts in Lane County, Oregon. After several years, she was hired as personnel administrator for Springfield Public Schools, where she was involved in contract negotiation, recruitment and retention, and helped to establish the District’s first diversity program. Most recently, Brooke acted as Human Resources Director for the City of Klamath Falls. She has two sons attending Hailey Elementary and one daughter in college. In her off time, she enjoys camping, hiking and fly-fishing with her husband and sons, and is an avid soccer (player) and fan.
Director of Buildings and Grounds - Howard Royal
Howard Royal began his work with the School District in October of 2006. He brings 25 years of experience in the construction field to his department. Howie worked as a field electrician for 15 years, and he was a supervisor for 10 years. He graduated from Carey High School and continues to reside in Carey with his family.
Director of Communications - Heather Crocker
Heather Crocker received a BA from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She studied art history in Austria and New York before moving to Blaine County in 1995 to work at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts. She served as the Center's Director of Education and Humanities for eight years. Subsequently, she was the Executive Director of the Blaine County Education Foundation for over five years. She was hired as the Communications Director in March 2011. She is the proud parent of two Blaine County School District students.
Director of Technology - Teresa McGoffin
Teresa was the first technologist hired by the district in 1996 to bring Internet and email to all schools. As the Network Administrator she has been invaluable in expanding our infrastructure to include phones in every classroom, ubiquitous Internet and robust wireless. She serves on the Safety and Security Task Force and is passionate about the safety of our staff and students. She has been a leader in bringing in new technologies such as virtual servers and electronic curriculum to the district. When Teresa came to Idaho via Seattle in 1995, she was the first Instructional Technology Specialist for the College of Southern Idaho's Twin Falls campus. She has taught computer courses since the early 80's and has offered enrichment courses at the CSI Hailey campus.
