Important recommendation notes:
- If a scholarship on the Standard Application requires one letter of recommendation (the Standard Recommendation), that same recommendation will be used for all scholarships that require one. This means you will be asked to request the letter one time.
- Recommendations are requested within the Standard Application. You'll need the recommender's email address to complete this task.
- Recommendations should be from a non-family member, typically a teacher, coach, adviser, mentor, or other trusted adult that has seen you in action.
- If you have multiple recommenders in mind to ask, please select the one that can best rate your
- Academic performance, promise, motivation, attitude, maturity, integrity, disciplined habits, reactions to setbacks, participation, and effort.
- In addition, they’ll be asked to share their personal experiences and observations that set you apart from others.
- Very few scholarships require a specific or additional letter of recommendation. If so, you’ll be prompted to add another recommender.
- All recommenders will receive an email to contribute to your application via APPLY. If they’ve already uploaded a recommendation letter to Scoir or Common App, that letter will not be transferred to this scholarship application. They will need to rate and recommend you again through APPLY.
- And no, recommendation letters used for a college recommendation cannot be uploaded. Recommenders will get a link to complete your recommendation form.
- You must request recommendations prior to the scholarship deadline - March 7th deadline.
