Bachelor of Science: Parks, Recreation, and Tourism with an Emphasis in Recreation Therapy Elementary Education (K-8)

Mrs. Blacker

I am bursting with enthusiasm to teach and participate in the growth of our students at Alturas Elementary! I am so honored to be a part of this school.  The students are incredible! The teachers are amazing!  And, I believe that helping students become fluent in two languages is an invaluable opportunity and gift.

In 2002, I graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy.  Upon graduation, I moved to Idaho Falls where I worked as a Recreational Therapist in a Behavioral Health Center.  In 2012 we moved to the Wood River Valley.  I began working within the school district as a PSR worker and a Behavioral Intervention Professional.  During this time, I was inspired by the teachers within the district and began the process of attaining my teaching certificate.  I achieved this goal in May 2015. The following school year I was hired by the District as a classroom paraprofessional at Bellevue Elementary.

I earned the title of "classroom teacher" in 2016 and taught 4th grade.  The following year I was moved to 5th grade.  I am looking forward to staying in the role of 5th grade teacher this year.  I love to learn and challenge myself with new opportunities.  My goal as a teacher is to share my passion for learning so that my students can experience the satisfaction which only comes from personal growth and achievement.
