Last summer the Wood River Y partnered with the Blaine County School District to sponsor Power Scholars. The Power Scholars program was offered five days a week for six weeks. 58 students benefited from literacy and math instruction, as well as emotional support and enrichment, breakfast, and lunch each day. Every Friday, Scholars took field trips to conduct first-hand research for a Kid's Guide to the Valley, written by scholars and produced by the Weekly Sun. Talk about engaged students who knew why they were learning literacy and writing! Check out their final product here. And special thanks to the Wood River Y, the Power Scholars staff, and the many supporters who made the program possible.
