Arts

  • Arts education is part of the K-12 core Blaine County School District curriculum. It is a planned, systematic, logically sequenced study for all students based on the disciplines of performing and visual arts. Arts education is a dynamic process of inquiry and expression that empowers all students to use knowledge, skills, imagination, and creativity to make responsible and informed aesthetic decisions in life.

Visual Art is an essential part of a well-balanced school program. Visual Art provides a distinct way of understanding the human experience and one's environment. It transmits the cultural heritage of peoples and times. Through the discipline of art, lifelong learners can enrich and permanently enhance the quality of their lives and the lives of their community.

  • The performing arts are critical in the development of the whole child. A quality performing arts curriculum is the foundation for outstanding performance-based programs at the primary and secondary levels. It empowers students to use their minds creatively and inspires students through diversity in learning. The performing arts are essential for students of all ages and abilities and should be taught as its own discipline. By directing learning through group experiences, students learn to think and perform independently, but also develop awareness of collaborative dependence.
