GATE Program (Gifted and Talented Education)

  • Student Welcome!

The Blaine County School District’s Gifted Program aims to meet the diverse needs of gifted and talented students with a high degree of excellence.  The District’s GATE Program recognizes the unique needs of students who possess substantially exceptional gifts and talents and with whom specialized support provided through the GATE Program, will sustain challenge and continued educational growth and motivation. A primary resource for the district in providing quality GATE services and support is the National Association of Gifted Children.

“Not every child has an equal talent or an equal ability or equal motivation, but children have the equal right to develop their talent, their ability, and their motivation.”   ~ John f. Kennedy

  • Mission

The Blaine County School District Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program recognizes that students with identified gifts and talents often require differentiated instruction and enrichment opportunities. The Blaine County School District utilizes state standards, district curriculum and evidence-based instructional practices to meet the needs of the gifted and talented. GATE Facilitators and regular classroom teachers work together to ensure that the educational needs of GATE students are met in the regular classroom and in specialized enrichment settings. These enrichment settings are designed to provide students with learning extensions that afford avenues for in-depth exploring, experiencing and expressing individual strengths. Activities are designed to assist students in capitalizing on their unique abilities, interests and needs, as well as provide them with the opportunity to interact and collaborate with their gifted peers.
