Welcome to Ms. Traue's Art Class!
Our projects and activities nurture students' visual literacy as they create and interpret visual images. We are inspired by the elements and principles of art, nature and the world around us, art history, contemorary artists, social/emotional learning, other content areas (science, math, music, language arts) and the role art plays in communities. Students learn art skills that improve their ability to express themselves in a visual format and are also given opportunities to apply those skills in ways that have personal meaning for them. In addition, visual art provides amazing opportunites to hone essential skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, self-awareness, analysis and empathy. Our art program also encourages authentic motivation as students participate in art shows/displays and contests at both state and national levels.
We explore a varity of art media including: drawing, painting, mixed media. collage, kiln-fired clay projects, weaving, fiber arts, printmaking, sculpture, bookmaking arts and more!
