Mr. Mauldin

This is my second year teaching choir at the Wood River High and Middle Schools.  Before that, I taught music for three years at Hailey Elementary, two years at the Sun Valley Community School and three years at Pioneer Montessori in Ketchum.  I have also taught at the collegiate level for Utah State University, the University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College and Arizona State University. A performer since I can remember, I also play the piano, guitar, ukulele, bass and bongos (I also took a year of band in 7th grade and played the trumpet). Having grown up in Jerome, I think of Idaho as my lifelong home. I moved to the Wood River Valley in 2008, but I have played in these mountains for many years! I love it here.

For more info about me, here is my current resume that I use when performing around the valley and elsewhere:

"John Mauldin, whose career encompasses opera, musical theatre, oratorio and concert performances throughout the United States as well as Canada, Hawaii, and Russia, has been praised by the Salt Lake Tribune for his “...polished technique...” and his “...appealingly light, flexible tenor...” voice. A versatile performer, John's stage and concert performances include Old Deuteronomy (Cats), Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd), Sparky (Forever Plaid), Stage Manager (Ned Rorem's opera adaptation of Our Town), Alfredo (La Traviata), Camille (The Merry Widow), tenor soloist in Beethoven’s 9th, Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and Bach's Magnificat. He can also be found singing and playing bass as part of the group, Avenue B on the album, Roots, Back to Passion.  John currently resides in Hailey, ID teaching private voice and serving as the vocal department head with Sun Valley Music Festival Music Institute and as the director of the local Middle and High School Choir programs. He is also involved in many aspects of the local music scene including having been Musical Director for numerous productions with The Sun Valley Community School, Musical Director and Vocal Coach for numerous St. Thomas Playhouse productions, and guest teacher in Wood River High School's drama program. In his most recent local performance, he played the role of Mary Sunshine in The Liberty Theatre Company’s production of Chicago. Upcoming performances include playing the role of Audrey II in The Liberty Theatre Company's upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors this October."
