Mr. Vanden Heuvel
I was raised in Wisconsin where I was a "Lumberjack" at Wausau East High School. I earned B.S. degrees in English and Conservation Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For many years, I worked in the field of experiential education, primarily for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) instructing month-long backpacking and mountaineering expeditions throughout the western U.S. and Alaska. My first "classroom" teaching job was at Hibriten High School in Lenoir, NC where I taught Earth and Environmental Science to 9th graders. My wife and I moved to the Wood River Valley in 2008, and we have two kids. Since moving here, I have worked at WRMS, St. Luke's Center for Community Health, and WRHS, and I also completed my Master of Educational Technology through Boise State University in 2015 (at last!).
