The Blaine County School District adopted K-12 Science materials in the spring of 2013. The materials support the learning of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), the K-12 Science Education Framework, and the current Idaho content standards. The committee chose to continue to use the 2007 Science Curriculum Guide as a resource because Idaho Content Standards remained unchanged. In addition, the BCSD Science Curriculum guide includes additional rigorous standards unique to our district.
These NGSS standards reflect major advances in science and the understanding of the National Research Council and the American Association for Advancement in Science of how students best learn science. They identify content and science and engineering practices that all students should learn from kindergarten to high school graduation.
