Ms. Rebecca Boyle
I am one of the ELD (English Language Development) specialists at Wood River Middle School. Specifically, I teach those students who require a smaller group to practice academic English skills. I co-teach 8th grade Science with Alisa Mc Gowan and Robert Polk. My father was in the US Air Force so I have traveled a lot. I lived in Okinawa, Japan until third grade. Afterward, we moved to Minot, North Dakota. I experienced how difficult it is to learn another language when I became an exchange student in Denmark. After one year I could speak Danish, but I never learned to read or write.
Moving around was the reason my parents wanted to purchase land in Idaho (my father’s home state). While in Japan, they asked my grandfather to find a place. I have always been thankful that wherever we lived, we were able to go “home” to the family cabin in Stanley.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College in Minnesota. Master’s degree from Freed Hardeman University in Tennessee. Before moving to Idaho, I taught English in Fargo, North Dakota. My students were primarily refugees from all over the world.
I enjoy hiking with friends and spending time with my family. I am not the adventurous type and prefer cross-country skiing to downhill.
I look forward to getting to know you as well!
Rebecca
