Dear Wood River Middle School Family,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!  As I begin my first year as the Principal of Wood River Middle School, I am filled with great excitement for this honor and privilege. For the past two years I have served as the Assistant Principal here at WRMS. Prior to that, I lived in Oregon and worked as a teacher for 21 years and then served as an instructional mentor for two years before moving back to my hometown in Idaho. 

I am deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. Along with our new assistant principal, Mr. Chris Koch, we will accomplish this by setting high expectations for all students and providing supportive systems to ensure that they are able to be met. Our plan is to focus on building a positive school culture, a strong sense of belonging, increased student learning and engagement with our community. One of our goals is to nurture the strength of the wonderful diversity our community has to offer. Creating a safe, supportive, inclusive environment is the cornerstone to our students’ success.

In order to meet these goals, it is essential that our parents, guardians, and community members actively participate. There are a variety of ways to be involved in your student’s education. Please feel free to reach out to the school or check our website on a regular basis to learn about how you can support your child. It is always best to start with your child’s teacher and ask specific questions about how you can provide support. Other ways you can be involved would be to attend and participate in our school community events, join the Parent Teacher Association, or volunteer at the school in various ways (check out the POP Squad). 

It is my wholehearted belief that great schools are made up of great teachers. Here at WRMS, we are incredibly blessed to have an amazing, gifted teaching staff. One of my primary goals is to provide ongoing support for the teachers at WRMS by ensuring they have the time and resources they need to focus on student learning. We are incredibly fortunate to be in a district where these same ideals are encouraged and supported. 

I believe that it is essential to build strong lasting relationships with staff, students, and families in the community I serve. It is my intention to provide opportunities for conversations that will help WRMS become an extraordinary place to learn and grow. 

In closing, please know that I welcome your conversations and positive input throughout the year. It is crucial that we keep our students the primary focus of the work we do each and every day. As we embrace the challenges of our future I look forward to an amazing school year filled with success and celebration for the 2023-24 school year.

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2023-24! Al comenzar mi primer año como Directora de Wood River Middle School, estoy llena de gran emoción por este honor y privilegio. Durante los últimos dos años he servido como Subdirectora aquí en WRMS. Anteriormente a esto, viví en Oregon y trabajé como maestra durante 21 años, posteriormente serví como mentora de instrucción durante dos años antes de regresar a mi ciudad natal en Idaho. 

Siento el profundo compromiso de macar una diferencia positiva en las vidas de sus hijos. Junto con nuestro nuevo subdirector, el Sr. Chris Koch, lograraremos esto estableciendo altas expectativas para todos los estudiantes y proporcionando sistemas de apoyo para garantizar que se logre alcanzarlas. Nuestro plan es enfocarnos en construir una cultura escolar positiva, un fuerte sentido de pertenencia, aumentar el aprendizaje de los estudiantes y el compromiso con nuestra comunidad. Uno de nuestros objetivos es fomentar la fuerza de la maravillosa diversidad que ofrece nuestra comunidad. Crear un entorno seguro, solidario e integrador es la piedra angular para el éxito de nuestros alumnos.

Para alcanzar estos objetivos, es esencial que nuestros padres, tutores y miembros de la comunidad participen activamente. Existen varias maneras de participar en la educación de su hijo(a). Por favor, no dude en ponerse en contacto con la escuela o visite nuestro sitio web con regularidad para conocer las diversas formas en que usted puede apoyar a su hijo(a). Siempre es lo mejor iniciar con el maestro de su hijo(a) y hacer preguntas específicas sobre cómo puede proporcionar apoyo. Otras formas en las que puede participar son asistiendo y participando en los eventos de la comunidad escolar, uniéndose a la Asociación de Padres y Profesores, o participando como voluntario en la escuela de varias maneras (cheque de qué se trata el POP Squad). 

Creo de todo corazón que las grandes escuelas se componen de grandes profesores. Aquí en WRMS, estamos increíblemente bendecidos de tener un estupendo personal docente y muy talentoso. Uno de mis principales objetivos es proporcionar apoyo continuo a los maestros de WRMS, asegurándome de que tengan el tiempo y los recursos necesarios para enfocarse en el aprendizaje del estudiante. Somos increíblemente afortunados de estar en un distrito donde estos mismos ideales se alientan y apoyan.

Creo que es esencial construir relaciones sólidas y duraderas con el personal, los estudiantes y las familias de la comunidad a la que sirvo. Es mi intención propiciar oportunidades para  conversaciones que ayudarán a WRMS a convertirse en un lugar extraordinario para aprender y crecer.

Es crucial que mantengamos a nuestros estudiantes como el enfoque principal del trabajo que realizamos día a día. A la vez que aceptamos los retos de nuestro futuro, anhelo un año escolar increíble lleno de éxito y celebración para el ciclo escolar 2023-24.
