Greetings, Students, and Parents of WRMS Rising 6th Graders,
First of all, welcome to Wood River Middle School! I hope this email finds you well-rested and ready for the new school year to begin.
As you know, middle school is a big change from elementary school. This transition can cause a lot of anxiety and stress for our students and parents alike. Fortunately, we are able to host a “camp” to welcome our new students. In partnership with our middle school leadership students, teachers, and other staff, we have planned an exciting and informative experience for all of our rising 6th-grade students.
Our day will include team-building activities with the leadership team, locker orientation/games, building tours, a chance to meet the 6th-grade teaching team, and fun opportunities to get to know one another without pressure.
WOW Camp (Welcoming Our Wolverines) will take place on Thursday, August 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will include lunch. Please complete the attached registration form as soon as possible so that we can get an accurate headcount for the day. T-shirts will be available for purchase for $10.00 the morning of WOW Camp at the office. T-shirt scholarships will also be made available.
Parents, you will need to arrange for student drop off and pick up since we will not be able to provide student transportation.

Por favor, rellene el formulario de inscripción adjunto tan pronto como sea posible para que podamos obtener un recuento exacto para el día. Las camisetas estarán disponibles para su compra por $ 10.00 la mañana del Campamento WOW en la oficina. Camisetas becas estarán disponibles también.
Los padres, usted tendrá que hacer arreglos para dejar y recoger a los estudiantes, ya que no será capaz de proporcionar el transporte de los estudiantes.

Welcome to Wood River Middle School
We are the Wolverines...
Wood River Middle School (WRMS) is located in north Hailey, Idaho, in the Big Wood River Valley. Our school was constructed in 1996, and a 19,000-square-foot addition was completed in 2004. Another addition was completed in 2013. It included classrooms for World Languages and Choir and a complete remodel of the Services classrooms and courtyard. We currently serve approximately 550 students, and our school is comprised of grades 6-8.
Our students start their first WRMS year attending the Residential Outdoor Environmental School to kick off their transition to middle school. During the overnight outdoor experience, the students experience many scientific and environmental investigations. They are housed in cabins with teachers and high school student counselors. This program is now in its 40th year.
Courses offered are Pre-AP Language Arts, Advanced Math up to Geometry, Foundational Math and Language Arts, and Study Hall classes. We also have an Intensive Reading Course called Read 180.
We also have a well-staffed student services team that serves English Language Learners (ELL) and students with special needs. We have had excellent growth these past two years and are a Four (4) Star School - just missing five stars, the top rating, by three points each year! We are a school with high expectations for both academics and student behavior. At WRMS, our number of discipline referrals & fights has decreased dramatically & students feel safe.

Hailey O'Reilly & Andrea Gallegos serve as counselors, and Lisa Hansen is our school Social Worker.
