On Friday November 15th, the Wood River Middle School 6th & 7th grade robotics team of Jake Blacker, Jasper Potts, Jesse Green, Hiram Johnson, Kalea Mitma, Theo Kurtz, Olivia Williams, Luca Hausske, Tyler Silvis, and Hudson Coshow were the tournament champions and robot skills champions at the Rigby Middle School Mayhem Tournament. The team walked away with all 3 awards that were handed out.
The teams are preparing for the Idaho State Championship that will be held at the Blaine County Community Campus on Friday February 28th. One Middle School team from Idaho will qualify to attend the World Championship in Dallas Texas in May.
Jeremy Silvis, Teacher and Robotics Coach from Wood River Middle School says, “This young team has worked very hard before school since early September to prepare for the competition season, and I am extremely proud of their accomplishments so far”. The Blaine County School District’s K-12 robotics program (known at BCB Bots) was the first of its kind in the state and has represented Idaho at the World Robotics competition numerous times over the last ten years.
