Girls Who Code Club Offers Middle Schoolers more than just Computer Science
WRMS has its first Girls Who Code Club this year. This is a free after school program for 6th through 8th graders that offers a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models using computer science to change the world. The club encourages girls to impact their community in a positive way through code. Girls are able to engage in fun and simple online coding tutorials, build community through interactive activities and learn about inspiring role models. The girls then build a culminating Girls Who Code Project, where they use coding skills to solve a real-world problem they care about. The club meets in the library every Monday, is hosted by Mrs. Boesch, and is facilitated by Ms. Ziegler.
