CELEBRATE EARTH DAY: STUDENTS INVITE YOU TO TAKE THE CHALLENGE
By Melanie Schrader for Wood River Middle School
Earth Day Challenge Approaches
The Wood River Middle School 6th Grade Leadership students, in collaboration with the 7th and 8th-grade leadership students, are putting together an Earth Day Challenge Week. The reason they are doing the E.D.C. (Earth Day Challenge) Week is to inspire kids to take care of the earth for future generations. They want all WRMS staff and students, and Wood River Valley community members, to join the challenge to do more to help save our Earth.
During the E.D.C. week, WRMS students, staff, and participating community members will compete to collect litter, wear green on Earth Day, learn about and inform others about the importance of recycling, along with many other challenges. Completion of differing challenges earns participants different points. At the end of the challenge, winning WRMS students and staff, and participating community members will receive a prize.
If you, as a community member decide to join WRMS Leadership students in the E.D.C. week, you can visit the WRMS school website to access and print out an Earth Day Challenge Tracking Sheet. Alternately, you can also pick one up from the main office at WRMS beginning on Thursday, April 18th. The E.D.C. week is April 22nd thru April 26th. All forms should be turned into the WRMS Students Leadership program by Friday, April 26th. “We hope you come and join!” ~WRMS 6th grader, Sydney Nickum
