    Dear Hemingway Husky Families,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2024-25 school year!

Over the past six years, Hemingway Elementary School transformed itself into Ernest Hemingway STEAM School (EHSS) with an integrated, inquiry-based curriculum PreK-Grade 8.  Much has been accomplished to bring STEAM into curriculum and instructional practices. I look forward to being your principal at Hemingway as we launch our eighth year of STEAM integration school-wide!

STEAM is a philosophy of teaching and learning

Science is a way of finding evidence to support answers to questions

Technology is any tool used to solve a problem

Engineering is a means of designing and testing solutions to problems

Art is the application of human creativity and imagination

Math is the computational language of measurement, pattern, formation, and relationships.

Our mission at Hemingway is to provide all children with a safe, supportive learning environment where they can explore (often in the outdoors), take intellectual risks, and reach their full potential. Working together with parents, teachers, and students, we can reach our goals of excellence in education.

One of the very special features of EHSS is our location in Ketchum. We are within walking distance of the Big Wood River, the Sun Valley Museum of Art, and the Environmental Resource Center. Our community partners are numerous and we feel truly grateful for all of their support. EHSS is indeed a very special school.

Let’s have a great year together!
