Mr. Slonim

I feel like I have the best job in the world in the best place in the world. When I was seven years old, I visited Sun Valley for the first time. On my second day here, I told my parents I was going to live here when I was older. At the age of 34, I moved here! Before my move, I was a third grade teacher in El Cajon, California. For my education, I studied at the University of Arizona where I received a BS in business administration. I then studied at San Diego State University where I got my teaching credential. My free time is spent with my wife, two step-kids and my baby son Sammy. I also ski, hike and bike ride. I have been at Hemingway for over twelve years in this awesome position. As for my students, they have won numerous awards. They took first place in Panasonic's KWN national video contest and were a top ten finisher another year. The year they won I took a student and her mother to New York City. They also won the eSchool News national video contest where I got to take three students and their parents to Washington, D.C. In addition, they have won awards in two Idaho video contests. My students have interviewed Oscar winners, Emmy winners, an astronaut and many other distinguished guests. The recycling club got cardboard and glass recycling bins placed in the YMCA parking lot and also helped revamp the way the county collects plastic bags. Thanks to the students, there is a bin at the ohio Gulch Recycling Center for plastic bags. In engineering design at Hemingway, we don't just do real world projects, we do real world projects that make a difference in the community!
