ELD at Hemingway STEAM School

ELD (English Language Development) helps students who come from a different language background be successful in the classroom.  Research shows that attaining advanced levels of fluency in a new language takes three to seven years.  Our job is to work with the classroom teacher to provide instructional strategies that make the classroom content accessible to these students as they move through the language levels and approach fluency. We use a co-teaching model which allows us to meet the needs of the students while, at the same time, helping the classroom teacher learn new strategies to meet the language needs of ALL students, not just the English language learners.
