FAFSA
-
FAFSA is the free application for federal student aid. Most universities, colleges, and trade schools accept FAFSA.
FAFSA will open in December for students planning to attend college Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026.
You will use your 2023 tax returns for this FAFSA cycle. *You must always use your "prior prior" financial information, meaning two years prior to the school year you will attend.
What may be available by completing FAFSA:
Pell Grant - estimated up to $7,395 for the 2025/26 school year. Access to the Pell Grant is based on financial need / household income. If the student qualifies for any amount of a Pell Grant, the money does not need to be paid back.
Stafford Loans - estimated up to $5,500 for the 2025/26 school year. Access to the Stafford Loan is not based on financial need. If the student chooses to borrow, the money does have to be paid back.
Work Study - part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. Not available at all colleges.
