Dual Credit (also known as Dual Enrollment) allows current high school students to take college-level classes. Participating in dual credit work starts a college record that will go with students beyond high school. Because of this, we encourage students interested in Dual Credit to meet with their college counselor to ensure the courses compliment their post-secondary plans.
Dual Credit classes are ideal for students looking to:
- Add rigor to their high school courseloads
- Access Advanced Opportunities Funding to pay for college coursework that transfers seamlessly to state institutions and sometimes to out of state institutions
Students are eligible to take a Dual Credit course if they are:
- A sophomore level student
- Have a 2.5 GPA+
Classes can be taken:
- In person
- at the high school, taught by a high school teacher who has been vetted and hired by the college to teach the upper level coursework
- at the college campus (student responsible for travel to college campus site)
- Online
- through IDLA, taught by a high school teacher who has been vetted and hired by the college to teach the upper level coursework (student responsible for managing the college-specific LMS)
- through the college directly (student responsible for managing the college-specific LMS)
