• Reading at home is the most important thing you can do with your child to help them succeed in second grade.  My only expectation for homework is READING....listening to your child read for 15-20 minutes everyday. You will  be amazed with the growth your child is going to have this year, and much of his/her progress will be due to your gentle encouragement as you listen to them read.

Everyday your child will bring home a BOOK BAG that contains 5-7 books at a level appropriate for your child and a calendar for you to sign.  These books may be read at any time of day.  The goal is to read for 15-20 minutes.  It is OK to read for 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes after school, as long as the goal is met.
